The Central Queensland region is based around the Tropic of Capricorn
stretching from the east coast of Queensland encompassing Rockhampton,
Gladstone and the
Capricorn Coast, and extending
west to the Central Highlands and
Emerald, and north to
Mackay. Including the Central
West, it borders the Northern Territory in the west and South Australia in the
south-west corner.
It is a region that lays claim to being where the world famous Waltzing
Matilda was written, and the birthplace of Australias International Airline -
