The Coral Coast is a true coastal paradise, part of the magnificent
Capricorn Coast,
with over 140 km of beaches stretching along the coastline, attracting tourist
and those looking for a quieter pace of life to the busy buzz of
Noosa and
Brisbane. Whilst some
tourism promotion define the Coral Coast as only stretching from Coonarr Beach in the south to the fishing village of Winfield
in the north, others define the area as far south as Woodgate, all the way north
up to the
Town of 1770
and westward to
Bundaberg.
With Bundaberg
being only a 15 minute drive to the coastline, the region offers a number of popular
holiday destinations including
Bargara, Bucca,
Burnett Heads,
Cochrane Artificial Reef, Coral Cove, Elliott Heads, Innes Park, Miara, Mon
Repos, Moore Park, Port and Sandy Hook, just to name a few.
The coast offers some unique natural attractions that include the annual migration of
humpback whales along the
coastline, especially those pods heading into Platypus Bay off Fraser Island,
where they enjoy a spot of rest and play. There is also the nesting and hatching of Loggerhead Turtles on Mon Repos Beach,
Australia's largest mainland rookery.
The Coral Coast region is also your gateway to the magnificent
Great Barrier Reef.
After you have finished
exploring the coastline, grab a brochure from the local tourism centre and explore the Coral Coast Hinterland.
