Dirranbandi meaning 'swamp abounding in frogs and
waterfowl' is a small town within the Balonne Shire situated
on the Balonne Minor River.
Settled in 1885 the town is home to a major cotton
growing region that includes the famous yet controversial 'Cubbie
Station' with controversy centred over water rights and
water allocation issues. The property is one of Australia's
largest cotton privately held cotton producers.

1913 tours of Cubbie Station, and camping or fishing along
the Balonne River.
