Some events happen at the same time throughout Australia, such as Christmas and
New Years Eve celebrations, ANZAC Day, Australia Day, local markets, agricultural shows etc. Some scheduled events only have approximate dates, with some dates changing
or being cancelled.

ANZAC Day
25th April
This day of
remembrance marks the deaths and sufferings of brave men and women, who lost
their lives in the fight to bring peace and harmony to the world.
It commemorates the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 (during World War I), which saw
men from two countries, Australia and New Zealand, come together and fight as
one, the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.
The massive loss of life, was deeply felt, and today it is a day we mark as
ANZAC Day: Less We Forget. |

MarketPlace Saturday Fresh Market at Rocklea is the popular destination for many
locals and visitors. With a great range of fresh produce, including fruit,
vegetables, seafood, meat, gourmet deli, baked goods and fresh flowers. Also
range of other crafts and products or just spend a leisurely morning sipping
coffee over the morning papers in one of the cafe dining areas.

The Riverside Markets is a great
crafts market, having won a number of tourism awards. The market provides an
outlet for furniture makers, woodworkers, glass blowers, leather workers,
jewellers, artists, fashion designers, photographers, knitters, doll makers,
alternative therapies, masseurs, stained glass Purveyors, speciality sauces,
jams and spices, quality bakers, patisserie, flowers and growers, fruit and
vegetables, Aboriginal art of all varieties, sculptures, metal workers and much
more. |

Held in the showgrounds, this monthly

Yungaburra |
Yungaburra Markets
4th Saturday of the month from January to November. The December market
scheduled prior to Christmas Eve - 7:30 am to 12:30 pm
Organised by the Yungaburra State
Primary School P&C since 1977, it is the Tablelands oldest and biggest market,
boasting some 320 regular stallholders. On display are arts and crafts, books,
clothing, knick knacks, fruit and vegetables, organic foods and plants, pottery,
music and more. The markets are held in the main park opposite the Lake Eacham
Hotel. |
