Following are some events happening in Queensland. For more information, check the destination pages of the town or area you are visiting.

Some events happen at the same time throughout Australia, such as Christmas and New Years Eve celebrations, ANZAC Day, Australia Day, local markets, agricultural shows etc. Some scheduled events only have approximate dates, with some dates changing or being cancelled.

Australia Wide Events - Queensland

Location	Event

	Australia Day • 26th January • A day when we come together to celebrate Australia and being Australian. Celebrations are nation wide. Details can be found on the government Australia Day site.

	ANZAC Day • 25th April • This day of remembrance marks the deaths and sufferings of brave men and women, who lost their lives in the fight to bring peace and harmony to the world. It commemorates the landing at Gallipoli in 1915 (during World War I), which saw men from two countries, Australia and New Zealand, come together and fight as one, the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The massive loss of life, was deeply felt, and today it is a day we mark as ‘ANZAC Day: Less We Forget’.

	Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve • 24-31 December • Capital cities throughout Australia and many of the major cities often put on special events such as Carol by Candlelight and New Years Eve firework display. Details can often be found on the local council sites.

1770	Discovery Coast Markets • SES Showgrounds, 1770 • Ph: 07 4158 9237 • 2nd Sunday of each month • Held at the SES Showgrounds in 1770, just minutes from Agnes Water, south of Gladstone.

Brisbane	Brisbane MarketPlace Saturday Fresh Market • 6 am to 12 pm - Saturday • Each Saturday the Brisbane MarketPlace Saturday Fresh Market at Rocklea is the popular destination for many locals and visitors. With a great range of fresh produce, including fruit, vegetables, seafood, meat, gourmet deli, baked goods and fresh flowers. Also range of other crafts and products or just spend a leisurely morning sipping coffee over the morning papers in one of the cafe dining areas.
Brisbane	Riverside Markets • 7 am to 4 pm - Sunday • The Riverside Markets is a great crafts market, having won a number of tourism awards. The market provides an outlet for furniture makers, woodworkers, glass blowers, leather workers, jewellers, artists, fashion designers, photographers, knitters, doll makers, alternative therapies, masseurs, stained glass Purveyors, speciality sauces, jams and spices, quality bakers, patisserie, flowers and growers, fruit and vegetables, Aboriginal art of all varieties, sculptures, metal workers and much more.

Charters Towers	Showgrounds Markets • Held on the 2nd Sunday of each month, except in June, when it is held on the 4th Sunday. • Held in the showgrounds, this monthly market brings together a range of local and district products including craft, jewellery, produce, home cooking, books, plants and much more. Featuring more than 40 stalls, that include food, coffee/tea and cold drinks.

Esk	Esk Saturday Markets • Held weekly on the Saturday - 7 am to 12 pm

Gin Gin	Gin Gin Historical Village Markets • Weekly event held on Saturdays • A country market with numerous stalls offering fresh local produce, craft, bric-a-brac, craft of all variety, clothing, jewellery, bric-a-brac, plus much more.

Stanthorpe	Market In The Mountains • usually held on the 2nd Sunday of the month and/or long weekend Sundays. • Stanthorpe’s famous ‘Make it, Bake it, Sew it, Grow it’ Arts and Craft Market - promoting and showcasing the talents of local artisans and crafters.

Townsville	Cotters Markets • Held every Sunday 8:30 am to 1:00 pm • The Cotters Market is North Queensland's largest arts and crafts market. There are also stalls selling pottery, jewellery, silk paintings, homemade sweets, fresh produce, plants and flowers.
Townsville	Strand Night Market • Held first Friday of the month from May to December starting at 5:00 pm to 9:30 pm. • The Strand Night Market offers a diverse range of entertainment and a huge variety of stalls offering fashion, craft, jewellery, food and other great things to purchase.

Yeppoon	Yeppoon Community Markets • Yeppoon Show Grounds • Saturday mornings - except for Anzac Day, Easter, Christmas.
	Fig Tree Craft Markets • Ross Creek Roundabout, YEPPOON • 1st Sunday of each month
	Causeway Lake Markets • Causeway Lake, via YEPPOON • 4th Sunday of each month

Yungaburra	Yungaburra Markets • 4th Saturday of the month from January to November. The December market scheduled prior to Christmas Eve - 7:30 am to 12:30 pm • Organised by the Yungaburra State Primary School P&C since 1977, it is the Tablelands oldest and biggest market, boasting some 320 regular stallholders. On display are arts and crafts, books, clothing, knick knacks, fruit and vegetables, organic foods and plants, pottery, music and more. The markets are held in the main park opposite the Lake Eacham Hotel.
