Hayman Island is the most northern island in the Whitsunday
Group. Covering an area of approximately 400 hectares and 8 kilometres in
circumference, its tallest peak is 250 metres above sea level. Located within
the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, it contains a magnificent range of flora,
fauna and marine life. The island is encircled with white sandy beaches. The coral reef which fronts
the southern half of the island is about 800 metres wide and 4 metres below
water, which becomes exposed at low tide.
The island appeals mainly to the corporate executives and
international jetsetters, as it is renowned for its elegance,
service and the superior location in the Great Barrier Reef. It is a
5 star resort and the only Australian island to be accepted as a
member of the prestigious organisation The Leading Hotels of the
World.
