The magnificent Kroombit Tops National Park covers over 34,000 ha, showcasing lush
rainforests, steep sandstone escarpments peaking with a
plateau of subtropical eucalypt forest. Featuring
rugged gorges, large waterfalls and ever stretching views of
the surrounding country.
4WD access is recommended if
visiting this park, bush camping is permitted however there
are no camping facilities or cleared locations for camping,
fresh water and other essentials must be brought into the
park. Camping permits are a must and can be obtained from
the Ranger in Charge as listed below.
Another unusual item
of interest that can be seen in the park is the remains of
the "Beautiful Betsy" an American B-24D Liberator aeroplane
No 42-40387 which disappeared in February of 1945 she
disappeared somewhere between Darwin and Brisbane on a
routine supply run for military personnel based in Darwin.
