Access to the Island is by vehicular ferry see below for
contact information. A $30 permit is required to bring your
vehicle onto the Island once there you are restricted to
certain parts to ensure protection of certain areas such as
turtle breeding beaches and other sensitive areas for wading
birds. Private boats can also be moored at Tangalooma. There
are no sealed roads on Moreton Island hence all vehicles
must be of the 4WD type and equipped for sand driving.
Camping is be permit only please obtain your permits on the
barge or at the Ranger Station on the Island. Camp sites are
located at Blue Lagoon, Comboyuro Point, The Wrecks, Ben-Ewa
and Eagers Creek. A camping fee is applicable for
individuals and groups please see the rangers for details.
Other types of accommodation can be found on the Island such
as the resort facililties at Tangalooma and small cottages
for rent. Mosquitoes can be quite ferocious in the summer
so bring the insect repellent and avoid disturbing large
