Oakey - Cities, Towns and Localities
Oakey is a small country town located 402 m above sea-level, some 29 km west of Toowoomba, on the Warrego Highway,  and is named after the river oaks on the nearby creek.

Oakey is located within the rich agricultural area of the Darling Downs, an area producing a range of crops, as well as supporting cattle. Well established in the region are grain merchants, stockfeed manufacturers, agricultural machinery manufacturers and the transport industry. There are also significant coal reserves in the region.

Based in the area is the Oakey Army Aviation Training Centre, a prominent military helicopter training facility, and the Museum of Australian Army Flying. The town includes an Olympic pool and sporting facilities.
