Oxley is only 11 km south west of Brisbane, with neighbouring Corinda,
Durack, Darra, Rocklea, Seventeen Mile Rocks, Archerfield, Willawong, and
bounded by
the Brisbane River to the north, with Oxley Creek along the eastern edge. The
suburb is a mixture of residential and industrial land, with leafy streets,
parks and a number of local cafe,
pubs and restaurants.
Oxley is named after the Australian Explorer John Oxley, who in 1824 and
accompanied by Allan Cunningham, discovered the Brisbane River and Bremer River
on Moreton Bay.
