Thursday (Wai-Ben) Island sits off the northern point
of the Cape York Peninsula of Australia. It is located in the Torres Strait, the
body of water that separate Australia from the Melanesian island of New Guinea.
To the west is the Arafura Sea and the Coral Sea to the east.
Thursday Island sits among a cluster of islands that
include Prince of Wales Island and Horn Island (those flying here will land at
the airport on Horn Island).
Visitors to the region can expect an island adventure with the choice of
fishing, bush walking, swimming or just lazing on the beaches. A great way to
explore is to book yourself on one of the local tours and charters and let the
tour operator tell you about this fabulous part of the world.
