Billabong Sanctuary
South of the city, amid ten hectares of bushland is northern
Queenslands largest wildlife reserve. Wildlife include kangaroos,
koalas, crocodiles, pythons and cassowaries with tours available for
a days excursion.

Castle Hill
A spectacular place to view Townsville, especially from the Castle
Hill Lookout at dust.

Great Barrier Reef
Visit the Great Barrier Reef from Townsville on a day cruise or an
extended cruise. There are also a variety of diving expeditions
available.

Jupiters Casino
Australias first fully-themed casino, features unique verandahs,
colourful facades and an open skyline of mottled blue clouds. A
spacious courtyard caf้, stateroom, Two-Up and grandstand bars.

Museum of Tropical Queensland
A sweeping sail-like structure marks the Museum of Tropical
Queensland. A world-class gallery incorporating a central display of
the shipwreck the HMS Pandora.

Paluma Range National Park
Located north west of Townsville the Paluma Range National Park is
actually made up of two sections the Jourama Falls and Mount Spec
sections covering an area of some 7200ha within the World Heritage
Wet Tropics area which covers some 9000 sq kilometres of far north
Queensland.

dynamic visual arts centre with a significant collection of north Queensland
art. Housed in one of Townsville's finest heritage buildings, the gallery has an
exciting and diverse program of local, national and international exhibitions
with a special focus on exhibitions featuring north Queensland artists. There
are five
exhibition display areas, including two main floor spaces, enabling the gallery
to have a varied exhibition program that changes regularly throughout the year.
There are floor talks, lectures, education programs and performances of music, theatre and
dance supplement exhibitions.

Townsville is home to the worlds largest living coral reef
aquarium, housing over 100 varieties of coral and 200 species of
reef fish. There are scheduled dive shows, discovery tours, marine
feeding and audio visual exhibits.

The Strand
Beachfront promenade incorporating a jetty, recreational park and
oval area, a series of headlands, an aqua park, restaurants and
picnic areas.

Town Common
A remnant of the once extensive Bohle River Basin is Town Common,
covering 3,245 hectares of Burdekin-Townsville wetlands. Home to a
diversity of native flora and fauna, encompassing a variety of
natural habitats from tidal estuaries to mangrove swamps, woodlands,
grasslands and vine thickets. You can also enjoy Aboriginal plant
trails, wildlife viewing hides, a forest walk and variety of walking
tracks.

The Cotters Market is North Queensland's largest arts and crafts market. There
are also stalls selling pottery, jewellery, silk paintings, homemade sweets,
fresh produce, plants and flowers.
