Tully - Cities, Towns and Localities
Originally settled in the 1870's and known as Banyan this small town was renamed Tully after the Tully River in 1924. The town is the wettest in Australia receiving an annual rainfall of over 4000mm as you would expect the area is very green and supports a hydro electric power station on the Tully River called Kareeya Hydro Electric Power Station.

The population these days is over 3000 people and the town is the main business hub for the area. The main industries here is sugar and banana's, very little tourism happens here most visitors go to Mission Beach.

Tours of the Tully Sugar Mill can be organised through the information centre as can white water rafting on the Tully River.
