‘Rose and Rodeo Capital of Australia’

Warwick on Queensland's Darling Downs is a major rural town with wonderful pioneering architecture, wide streets and many recreational activities for residents. Download the Historic Building Trail file below to get more information on the many historic homes and public buildings in region.

The City of Warwick rose (Arofuto) is planted throughout the parks in the town and blooms during the annual Rose and Rodeo Festival held each October. West of Warwick is the Leslie Dam popular with locals for sailing, fishing, swimming, picnics, and skiing. Queen Mary waterfalls and Cunninghams Gap also make pleasant day trips.

The Australian Rough Riders Association has made Warwick their headquarters in keeping with the long history of rodeo riding in the town. The first rodeo was held here in the 1860's on the Canning Downs.

Heritage & Historic Building Trail
• Warwick is home to a collection of the state's most preserved and magnificent sandstone buildings, that set it aside from other towns in Queensland, including Glengallan Homestead one of the significant attractions on the Queensland Heritage Trail Network. There is a Southern Downs Heritage and Historic Building Trail guide available for purchase from the Warwick Visitor Information Centre.

Pringle Cottage Museum
• Sandstone cottage and outbuildings built 1870 features historical furniture bric n brac from the last 130 years.

Tiddalik the Frog
• Stone monument on the Condamine river carved from a 15 tonne boulder of granite which came from nearby Leslie Dam. Tiddalik was inspired by the Aboriginal dreamtime legend about the frog who drank the water and caused the drought. The monument is the mascot for the Warwick Greenbelt Project which aims to protect, preserve and develop the Condamine River flood plain.
