Large park covering some 124,000 ha of land in Queensland's
Mulga country, flanked by the Barcoo river this magnificent
park is home to stately River Red gums, tall Ghost gums,
Spinifex plains, and gidgee scrub. After rains the park is
flush with greenery including many wildflowers.
also has a large sand dune region and is known to have the
most easterly desert sand dune country in Queensland. Other
parts of the park feature rocky granite outcrops which make
a more than suitable home for the rare and endangered Yellow
Footed Rock Wallaby.
Camping is by permit only, best time
to visit is during the winter when it is a little cooler.
