See Camping & Caravan: William Creek

• Details: one needs no longer to pitch camp in the “junky” OODNADATTA Roadhouse campground. The locals have banded together and built a (not unpleasant) currently FREE campground down by the river. Access is via the road past the airstrip... a 5 minute (even caravan friendly!) drive. The weird sounds you’ll hear at night are the local HORSES wading through the river for a drink!

• Details: there are now 2 campgrounds in the tiny “village” of William Creek on the Oodnadatta Track. For a guaranteed “quiet” night, with exceptionally clean and numerous amenities, stay on the Southern side of the Track, across the road from the well-frequented William Creek Hotel (which itself provides accommodation for busloads of school children, backpackers, as well as campers etc).
