William Creek can be accessed from four different routes — north, Oodnadatta — south, Roxby Downs or Marree, and via Coober Pedy in the west. Currently all these roads are unsealed and are usually well maintained making them suitable for 2 wheel drive vehicles, however this can change quickly due to weather conditions.

There are signs at the start of all of these roads, giving information on road conditions, or contact the local or regional visitor centres for up-dates on road conditions.
