Yunta is a small, geographically isolated rural community located on the Barrier Highway, 200 km west of Broken Hill and 85 km east of Peterborough. Established in 1887 as a railway town on the Adelaide to Silverton rail route, today, the town acts as a service centre for the local community, as well as stop-over for travellers between Sydney (Broken Hill - Adelaide) to Perth route or to the tourist town of Arkaroola.
