‘Seafood Capital of Australia’

Welcome to Port Lincoln, the popular destination located on the tip of the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. Known as the ‘Seafood Capital of Australia’, Port Lincoln is also the major commercial centre for the Eyre Peninsula.

As a holiday destination, it offers a great range of attractions and tours starting from the numerous beaches, fishing and other aquatic activities. With a number of museums, visitors can experience an insight into the historic past or just commune with nature in the local parks and gardens including Lincoln National Park and the nearby Coffin Bay National Park.
 

With a number of fine restaurants, cafes and good old fashion take-away, visitors can sample the fresh seafood and local produce. For those into wines, there are also a number of wineries which sell direct to the public via their cellar door.

There are also a number of charters and tours by which to experience the wonder of the region.

Port Lincoln Attractions

Axel Stenross Maritime Museum (Inc)

• Open 1 pm to 5 pm - Tues, Wed Weekends and public holidays (Closed Saturdays May-August)
• Named after Axel Stenross, a boat builder who hailed from the era of sail, this is a museum with a difference. Not only does it have a slipway in full working order, but most of the exhibits can be handled. Also on display is one of the largest collections of knots and splices in Australia.
Koppio Smithy Museum
• Koppio Hills, KOPPIO SA Ph: 08 8684 4243
• Open 10 am to 5 pm - Tue to Sun and Public Holidays / Daily during school holidays
• Located about 40 km north of Port Lincoln the museum reflects farming activities prior to the late 1940s. Other restored buildings include ‘Glenleigh’, a pine-log thatched-roof shepherd’s hut, and the Koppio school house with its collections of photographs, early firearms and clerical machines. There is the Jericho collection in Heritage Hall, the Bob Dobbins barbed Wire Display, women's pioneer room, horse drawn vehicles, vintage cars, trucks etc.

Tunarama Festival

Highlights of the festival include the World Champion Tuna Toss, Crowning of the Festival Ambassador of the Year, Rodeo, Street Procession, Movie Night, Talent Quest, Seafood and Wine Expo and a spectacular fireworks display.
West Coast Country Music Festival
