Southern Right Whale
• July to August
The Head of the Bight cliffs along the Great Australian Bight. provide great viewing spots for whale watching around July to August, when southern right whales return to the sheltered bays of Victor Harbor to calve and mate. The southern right whales are often seen within 100 metres of shore.

Marree Marree Camel Cup
• First Saturday in July
Marree comes alive with the annual Camel Cup event. With a number of camel races, live entertainment, novelty and other fun events. A great day for the entire family attracting locals from the surrounding region and visitors from all over the world. For more information contact the Marree Rural Transaction Centre.

The annual migration of the Southern Right Whales is part of the popular events calendar, as tourist plan their holidays to include a bit of whale watching. Occurring between June and October, the Southern Right Whales return to the waters of Encounter Bay. During the whale watching season, you can ring the ‘Whale Info Hotline’ for the latest information on whale sightings.

Adelaide Royal Adelaide Show
• September
The Royal Agricultural and Horticultural Society of South Australia Inc is the organiser of the State’s largest event, the Royal Adelaide Show, which attracts approximately 40% of South Australia’s population. Further to this, the Royal Adelaide Showground provides facilities to more than 140 exhibitions, conventions and banquets each year.

Andamooka Oktopalfest
• September/October long weekend
A celebration of opal and beer with an event that showcases the arid beauty of the far outback, and providing an opportunity for locals in the outlying area to get together, participating in some light hearted events that include whellbaroow race, mobile keg rolling, strong arm competition, fly fishing, beer tasting, keg and can tossing, drinks carrying, opal mining race, tug-of-war, golf chipping, music and entertainment. Events cater for the entire family. There is even a bus service from Roxby Downs to Andamooka during the event. The event is usually sponsored by the Andamooka Opal Hotel in conjunction with other various businesses from Roxby Downs, Olympic Dam and Andamooka.

Adelaide World Solar Challenge
• Biennial event - held in October 2007. Next event 2009
A biennial event based on a competitive field of solar cars crossing the Australian continent powered by nothing but the sun. Teams are required to research, build and design vehicles capable of completing the 3000km journey from tropical Darwin in the Northern Territory, to cosmopolitan Adelaide in South Australia.

Blinman Blinman Gymkhana
• October
One of the longest running Gymkhana's if not the longest running with the first recorded meeting was held in 1868, when the races used to held over a two day period, today the event is held over one day.

There are 16 horse events, including the Blinman Cup and the Bracelet with novelty events throughout the day for both children and adults. There is all day bar facilities and food available with a barbecue tea available. Great music and entertainment on the night.

Renmark Renmark's Rose Festival
• October
• Started in 1995 the Renmark Rose Festival continues this annual spring event when the roses and gardens of Renmark are at their best. This week long Rose Festival has a number of activities, displays and demonstrations for plant, garden and rose lovers.

Simpson Desert Simpson Desert Bike Challenge

Australia’s toughest mountain bike race, dubbed “Satan’s Velodrome”, and lovingly described as "five days in hell" by previous riders. This annual event is a desert bike crossing over 5 days, 750 dunes, corrugations, headwinds, sandstorms, thorns, extreme heat and endless kilometres of mind numbingly straight roads.
