Located on Lacepede Bay, Kingston is a scenic fishing port and holiday township, that offers visitors some great beaches and ocean recreational activities, including scuba diving, fishing, windsurfing, sailing and wildlife such as sea lions, seals and dolphins.

Giant Lobster named Larry.

With the towns main commercial activity of cray fishing (October to April), the town is popularly known among locals and tourists as the home of the giant lobster named ‘Larry’.
 

There is a Analematic Sundial in the town centre, as well as a museum with a fascinating collection of artefacts and local heritage. Also located adjacent to the caravan park is the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse. This lighthouse was previously situated out at sea on the treacherous Margaret Brock Reef, before being dismantled in 1972 and rebuilt in Kingston itself.

Cape Jaffa Historic Lighthouse.Cape Jaffa Historic Lighthouse
•
Constructed between 1868 and 1872, the Cape Jaffa Lighthouse was originally located on Margaret Brock Reef, 15 km to the south west of Kingston. In 1976, it was relocated to its current position. The lighthouse if managed by the National Trust of South Australia.



 

Kingston Analemmatic Sundial and Sculpture Park
• Completed in 1990, this unique sundial located on a small island in Kingston, is a work of art. The hour markers of the sundial reveal a broad range of carvings, etchings and sculpture works that include fish, frogs, lizards, abalone, birds, local flora etc.

This ‘Sundial of Human Involvement’ enables you to tell the time using the shadow cast by your own body.
