Lyndhurst - Cities, Towns and Localities
Located at the crossroads of the Strzelecki and Oodnadatta Tracks, about 605 km north of Adelaide, is the historic old railway town of Lyndhurst.

Starting life as a railway siding in 1878, Lyndhurst was once a station on the planned train route north, known as the ‘Great Northern Railway’, that was supposed to reach Darwin, but only ever made it to Alice Springs. The last train ran in 1980, with a new train line being built some 200 km to the west. Lyndhurst was gazetted as a town in 1896.

Today, Lyndhurst is no more than a few buildings, a short stop break for passing tourists. Following are some images from the region.
