Pinnaroo is a border town in the Murray Mallee region, near the
South Australia and Victoria border, about 243 km east of Adelaide. Located on
the Mallee Highway, and the railway line between Tailem Bend and Ouyen, Pinnaroo
provides a great stop for stocking up and stretching your legs for those on the
bus route from Adelaide to Sydney.
With the dedicated work by the
Pinnaroo Historical Society and volunteers, the history of the region can be
viewed in a number of collections and museum.
The towns name is
derived from an Aboriginal word thought to mean big men, great men or old
