Pinnaroo - Cities, Towns and Localities

Pinnaroo is a border town in the Murray Mallee region, near the South Australia and Victoria border, about 243 km east of Adelaide. Located on the Mallee Highway, and the railway line between Tailem Bend and Ouyen, Pinnaroo provides a great stop for stocking up and stretching your legs for those on the bus route from Adelaide to Sydney.

With the dedicated work by the Pinnaroo Historical Society and volunteers, the history of the region can be viewed in a number of collections and museum.

The town’s name is derived from an Aboriginal word thought to mean ‘big men’, ‘great men’ or ‘old men’.
