Located at the bottom of the Murraylands region, at the junction of the
Murray River and Lake Alexandrina, is the township of Wellington, about 105 km from Adelaide.
Today, it is home to one of the oldest working hotels in South Australia,
acquiring its first license in 1848. Pre 1890s, tens of thousands of grazing
animals passed through, on route from the south coast. Such was the impact of
the animals that the sand dunes began to drift into the town, and by the 1890s
Wellington was almost swallowed up by sand. Today, you can still see the ruins
of early settler buildings in East Wellington. For
