Only 6 km north of Low Head, George Town is a riverside township with a relaxed and mild temperate maritime climate. Established in 1804, it is the oldest town in Australia. There are many attractions including those of historical interest, such as ‘The Grove’, a fascinating colonial Georgian home that is open to the public. Visit the Mount George Lookout for sweeping views of George Town and the Tamar River, it is also the location of a restored semaphore signal mast.
