The Tamar River meanders for 58 km from Launceston, past vineyard country, orchards, scenic pastures, forest, villages and towns, until it enters the Bass Strait. The Tamar Valley is Tasmania’s major cool climate wine producing region, that also specialises in the Pinot and Riesling varieties. It is a region that is enjoying a growing reputation for fine wines, good food and great scenery. During the summer, you can pick farm fresh raspberries, blueberries and stone fruits.
