Part of the history of Tasmania, Bronte Park was
once a construction village for the Tungatinah Power Scheme. Built in 1948 to
house the work force for the Nive River scheme, Bronte Park became quite a large
settlement, containing a store, police station, post office, school, cinema,
hospital, dairy and a church. Today very few of the houses are left, having been
moved to other Hydro schemes. The heart of the
islands lake district, the village is a great destination situated on the
Marlborough Highway, that now provides an
ideal getaway vacation spot, offering a number of accommodation options and the
village store. Bronte Park is is currently a privately owned accommodation
