Located close to Bicheno, Diamond Island is a 6.7 ha nature reserve, that is
accessible at low tide, when you can wade across the sand spit.
Wildlife include Little penguins, short-tailed shearwaters and sooty
oystercatchers. The dominant vegetation is Rhagodia candolleana and some
casuarinas in the central to northern part of the island.
There are tours available from local tour services, and some boat charters.
