Douglas Apsley National Park - Cities, Towns and Localities
Some of the amazing fungi in the Douglas Apsley National Park.Located on the east coast, Douglas Apsley National Park is the last, large relatively undisturbed area of dry eucalypt in the State. Covering the catchments of the Douglas, Apsley and Denison Rivers, it features spectacular gorges and waterfalls, and includes the Heritage Falls on the Douglas River and the Apsley Gorge.

Apsley Gorge Lookout and Waterhole
Enjoy  breathtaking views from the viewing platform above the Apsley River, then stroll down to the waterhole for a swim. 15 minute return walk.

Apsley Gorge
When weather permits, enjoy tranquil pools and undisturbed river scenes. 3-4 hours return.


Heritage and Leeaberra Falls
Walk to the campsite then downstream to the top of Heritage Falls. Trek down the falls to the top of Leeaberra Falls, then return. Approximately 5-7 hours return.


This fungi belongs to the Jelly Fungi group, and is called Tremella mesenterica.Walks from Thompsons Marshes
This is great for 4WD. Turn off the Tasman Highway approximately 22 km north of Bicheno, opposite cattle yards. Head west on Forestry ‘E’ Road, and follow the signs.
