Douglas Apsley National Park - Cities, Towns and Localities
Some of the amazing fungi in the Douglas Apsley National Park.Located on the east coast between Bicheno and St Marys, Douglas Apsley National Park has a large relatively undisturbed area of dry eucalypt forest. Encompassing the catchments of the Douglas, Apsley and Denison Rivers, it features spectacular gorges, dolerite capped plateau, rocky forested hills, heathlands, pockets of rainforest, cascades and waterfalls, that includes the Heritage Falls on the Douglas River and the Apsley Gorge.

With sweeping coastal vistas, the parks offers some great and varied bush tracks, that provide opportunities to see some of the fantastic flora and fauna, that include native orchids, banksias, she-oak and heath.

So, whether you are looking just for a tranquil stream to have a picnic, easy to rugged bush walks, close encounters with some of the local flora and fauna, then the Douglas-Apsley National Park can oblige.

To find out more information, especially about the walks (there are a number of walks varying from 30 minutes to a couple of days), visit the Tasmania Parks & Wildlife Service - Douglas-Apsley National Park.
