• The museum is set out in a former packing shed. It is a time capsule that depicts the lives of the early settlers from the Huon Valley. There are numerous displays and exhibits containing antiques and memorabilia that demonstrate how the pioneers and settlers lived and worked. Some items date back to the early and mid 1800’s. There are restored working machinery, along with domestic artefacts providing an insight into the agricultural history of the time. There is also a demonstration of antique apple processing machinery.

In season, there man be as many as 500 apple varieties on display, from the nearby Grove Research and Demonstration Station.

The Starving Artist Art Gallery
• 2064 Main Rd, GROVE TAS 7109 • Ph: 03 6266 4345 • Email
• Open 7 days a week — 9 am - 5 pm
• ‘Ye old apple shed’ that houses the gallery incorporates a pleasant blend of contemporary and rustic ambiance. Our diverse blend of artwork from most genres creates a unique appeal for art lovers and enthusiasts alike. This exceptional variety includes: paintings, photography, sculpture, woodwork, textiles, glassware, and much, much more.

The gallery’s concept originates from the owners desire to provide a venue for Tasmania’s highly talented artists to showcase their work. Each exhibition lasts for 2 months and includes a number of different artists. This rotational aspect not only allows the gallery to maintain a degree of “freshness” in its displays but also provides ALL of the artists in the queue the opportunity to show their work.
