Port Sorell is located on the North West Coast of Tasmania. Originally a
fishing and sealing port named Burgess, the name was officially changed to Port
Sorell in 1822 after the Governor Sorell. Port Sorell is a seaside holiday
haven with a number of attractions, being the Port of Golden Beaches and
Gateway to Narawntau National Park.
With easily accessible foreshores, bushland reserves, it offers some good
walking activities and a great place for communing with nature, the nearby
national park being home to Tassie Devils and the Forester Kangaroos. With
