The town of Scottsdale is located in the north-east of Tasmania, on the Tasman Highway, just 63 km from Launceston and 22 km south-east of the town of Bridport.

One of the main attractions in the town is the Forest Eco Centre whose focus is forest-based tourism and recreation activites. The Eco Centre also incorporates the Tasmania Visitor Information Network (TVIN) outlet, a cafe and retail outlet that feature distinctive Tasmanian wood design.

The Trail of the Tin Dragon

The trail is the story of the tin mining era in the North East Tasmania. The discovery of tin in the late 1800s by Renison Bell, saw thousands of fortune seeker from all over the colonies and overseas. Around 900 came from China, and archaeologists have identified nearly 40 sites throughout the north east where remains of Chinese mines can be found. The trail starts from St Helens, where many of the Chinese miners entered Tasmania, walking to the mineral deposits of the Blue Tier, Weldborough, Moorina, Derby, Branxholm, Scottsdale and Launceston.

Established in 1921, Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm is one of the finest quality lavender flowers and lavender oil, used traditionally in the perfumery industry. A guided tour of the Bridestowe Estate has become a popular attraction for visitors and locals alike. During the flowering season (December and January), make sure you bring your camera. There is also a farm shop and cafe.
