The town of Scottsdale is located in the north-east region of Tasmania, on the Tasman
Highway, just 63 km from Launceston and 22 km south-east of the town of Bridport.
One of the main attractions located at the entrance to the town is the Forest Eco Centre whose focus is
forest-based tourism and recreation activities. The Eco Centre also incorporates
the Tasmania Visitor Information Network (TVIN) outlet, a cafe and retail outlet
that feature distinctive Tasmanian wood design.
The EcoCentre has a distinctive structure, being a building within an external
shell, which is able to control its own environment with the aid of air flows
and plants and trees that act as bio-mediators to create its own micro-climate.
