Southwest National Park - Cities, Towns and Localities
Located in the far south west of Tasmania is the aptly named Southwest National Park. A visit to Cockle Creek will take you to a wilderness heritage area, rimmed by spectacular mountain ranges. Once a busy whaling, coal mining and logging area, it now offers secluded beaches and a variety of spectacular walks.

There is an information booth at Cockle Creek. Activities vary from bushwalking, fishing, boating and other water activities. There are safe boat launch sites at several points around Recherche Bay.

Location: Only 2 hour drive from Hobart and accessible via the Huon Highway (A6), through Geeveston. Take the C635 past the Hastings Caves, turn off then follow the C636 gravel road through Lune River to Cockle Creek.

Don’t forget that the weather in the southwest is unpredictable and can change rapidly.

A variety of passes such as the daily, holiday and annual, can be purchased to visit all of the national parks in Tasmania. Contact the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service:
