Swansea - Cities, Towns and Localities |
|
|
|
Steeped in history and nestled on the shores of Great
Oyster Bay, overlooking the Freycinet National Park is the
township of Swansea, the ideal place from which to explore
the east coast region. There are sheltered beaches safe for
swimming in including the Swan River and Bay. There is also
fishing opportunities in the river, bay and ocean, as well
as a variety of water activities. As the oldest rural
municipality (Glamorgan) in Australia, there is plenty of
reminders both in Swansea and the surrounding area of the
early settlers, with many of the historic buildings still in
use. There are several vineyards located to the north of
Swansea, where you can sample and purchase the wines.
