Victoria’s most popular National Park and the most southerly point of the Australian mainland. Part of the Wildlife Coast Nature Trail, Wilson’s Promontory (also known as ‘The Prom’) is arguably the most loved national park in Victoria. Details: perched on a small peninsula that juts out into the seas of Bass Strait is the Wilsons Promontory Lightstation. Built in 1859, the granite tower and head lighthouse keeper's residence, together with a number of other buildings make up the lightstation precinct.

There are three cottages that hikers can experience, however it is situated 19.1 kms from Tidal River and accessible only by foot. Before you book accommodation at the Lightstation, you are encouraged to think long and hard about whether you are capable of doing this walk, especially with a backpack, carrying all your provisions. The track is an undulating bush track with some steep sections.

All cottages are restored with a mixture of original features and modern convieniences, and are fully equipped with stove/oven, microwave, fridge, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery. Cottage 2 is the head lighthouse keeper's residence, and has one room with a queen-size bed. All other bedrooms in the three cottages have bunk beds that sleep between two to four people per room. Kitchen, lounge, dining and bathroom areas are all shared facilities.

The cottages are available for individual and group bookings for one or more nights.
