Part of the City of Port Phillip, Albert Park is a suburb of
Melbourne, 3 km south of
the central business
district and is named after the large park and lake located there. There are
actually two Albert Parks, one being the recreational parkland and the other is
the adjoining residential area, spreading southwards from Emerald Hill, South
Melbourne.
Sandwiched between South Melbourne and Port Phillip Bay, the area is very
popular with its cafes, restaurants, markets, pubs and bookshops. The lake and
parkland offers a great location for recreational activities that include
jogging, sailing, cycling and rowing, as well as BBQ and picnic areas, all with
the skyline of the the city of Melbourne in the background.
