Falls Creek rises to an altitude of 1,842 m above sea level, with Falls Creek Village located at 1,600 m above sea level. It is about 350 kms by road from Melbourne, with the nearest town Mount Beauty, approximately 30 km away.

Well known as a premier all-season alpine resort located in the north-east of Victoria, Falls Creek has the largest ski field in the region during the winter season. It offers gentle cruising terrain, with added excitement for gun skiers and boarders at Exhibition and Mt McKay. It also host a world class mountain bike park and a popular summer location for the entire family.

Summer provides cool nights and beautiful days. Perfect for that exhilarating mountain top walk, great views, wildflowers and superb sunsets.

Falls Creek is access via the Bogong High Plains Road from Mount Beauty (although you are advised to have snow chains on your vehicle during winter and fitted if directed. The road itself continues across the High Plains, descending to meet the Omeo Highway north of the hamlet of Anglers Rest. During the snow season, this route is most likely to be closed.

The devastation of the 2003 fires were still evident in 2006 with the forest of dead gum trees all around. Throughout both the Victorian Alps and the Snowy Alps, are forests of dead trees, some areas will recover in time, but some will not.
