The Goulburn River is Victorias longest river, stretching some 654 km1.
The river arises from the Victorian Alps and High Country near Woods Point,
ending up in the Murray at Echuca. The river has a number of creeks and
tributaries that also feed into the main river. The river descends into the Eildon Dam that creates
Lake Eildon,
Victorias largest inland lake, a major water storage for irrigation. From here,
most of the irrigation water feeds north-west into Goulburn Weir and Waranga
Basin.
