With the claim as Australia’s surf capital, the evidence is everywhere that Torquay has a beach culture. Together with Jan Juc, to the south, Torquay has some of the best surfing beaches in Australia, with Bells Beach being home of the Rip Curl Pro. Of course no visit to Torquay is complete without a visit to the world’s largest surfing museum.

With its close proximity to Geelong and part of the scenic Great Ocean Road, Torquay is a great base or starting point for a great holiday experience.

Held annually over the Easter period since 1960, the Rip Curl Pro is the world’s longest running and most prestigious professional surfing contest, attracting competitors from around the world. Formerly the ‘Bells Beach Surf Classic’, the Rip Curl Pro is the only professional sporting event allowed to be held on Easter Friday in Australia, with the event winner awarded the prestigious ‘Bell Trophy’.
