Somers - Cities, Towns and Localities
The seaside village of Somers is located on the Westernport Bay in the Mornington Peninsula. The Somers Foreshore Reserve provides a wonderful recreational spot to take in the local flora and fauna, as well as enjoy the scenic outlook. From the cliffs of Somers you look out towards Philip Island and the Nobbies.

Somers is also home to the Coolart Wetlands and Homestead. Coolart is a magnificent late Victorian mansion situated on the shores of Westerport.

Visitors can also go for a nature walks at nearby Arthurs Seat State Park and Mornington Peninsula National Park or check out some of the many wineries in the region.

Somers Foreshore Reserve

• Part of the unique ecology of the Western Port region, the four kilometre foreshore reserve include sandy spit creek, wooded sand dunes and cliffs, open woodlands and sand dunes, protecting local flora that include Coastal Banksia, She Oak, Manna Gum, and some local wildflowers, as well as being home to some unique fauna that include echidnas and koalas. With views across the bay to Phillip Island and French Island, the foreshore provides opportunities for watching birds and other wildlife, bush walking along tracks that take in the indigenous vegetation, flora and fauna. Other recreational activities include swimming, sailing. There are two car parks with toilets and BBQ facilities, as well as a dressing shed.
Coolart Wetlands & Homestead
• The magnificent late Victorian mansion Coolart is situated on the shore sof Westernport. The grounds are for-ever changing wetlands that you can view form the observatory, as well as a lagoon where thousands of Australian white ibis nest annually.

There are plenty of facilities for the visitor, including places for a picnic or barbeque. The woodland walk provides opportunity to take in the fauna, as well as the resident koalas. There are accessible facilities with boardwalks leading to the bird hides that also are wheelchair accessible.
