Mount Hotham is about five hours from Melbourne by car,
or an hour by plane from Sydney to its airport near Dinner Plain.
It offers plenty of steep skiing and a modern lift network. Great apres
skiing from the Last Run Bar. After a thrilling work out, you can
enjoy a fantastic meal at the Dinner Plains High Plains Lodge.
There is also 50 ha of back country skiing from Golden Point.
Alpine Shire The Alpine Shire covers an area of
over 4,800 square kilometres extending from the heights of the mountains,
through snowfields and national parks, down to the river, farmlands and valleys.
The three major townships are Bright, Mount Beauty and Myrtleford, located in
the two major river valleys of the Ovens and Kiewa Valleys. The Shire is also
home to snowfield attractions and resorts of Mount Hotham, Falls Creek, Dinner
Plain and Mount Buffalo. Other attractions in the region include the Alpine
National Park, the Mount Buffalo National Park, the Bogong High Plains and the
Buffalo River Valley.
