Ocean Grove - Cities, Towns and Localities
Located about 100 km south west of Melbourne, on the southern coast of the Bellarine Peninsula, Ocean Grove is a seaside resort town overlooking the Bass Strait. The town sits on the eastern bank of the Barwon River, linked to the popular Barwon Heads on the opposite side of the river by the Barwon Heads Bridge.

The largest town on the peninsula, Ocean Grove population, dramatically swell during the summer holidays. With its own sandy beach front extending from the mouth of the Barwon River heading east to Point Lonsdale, there are plenty of activities from surfing, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and bush walking.

As well as the nature reserves, surf and beaches, Ocean Grove has a range of shops, cafes and restaurants. Only 15 minutes to Queenscliff/Sorrento ferry, 20 minutes from Geelong and even closer to the start of the Great Ocean Road and the magnificent Otways, so there is no shortage of recreational activities.

Check out our listing of Ocean Grove accommodation and Bellarine Peninsula accommodation. In addition to our listed online travel guide information, contact the local tourism visitor centre for your destination for more attractions, tours, local maps and other information.

Ocean Grove Attraction

Ocean Grove Nature Reserve
• The Ocean Grove Nature Reserve contains the only significant example of woodland on the Bellarine Peninsula that once covered the landscape, prior to European settlement. The reserve is a haven for birds and there are bird hides from which to view them. Some 130 species have been spotted here, of which 35 species have been known to breed here. Whilst there is an information centre, it is only open when there is some available to man the centre. There is a picnic area and toilets.
