Located to west of Echuca, about 45 km, on the Murray River, Torrumbarry is home
to the Torrumbarry Weir. The original weir was built in 1924 to regulate the
flow of water along the Murray after the drought in 1914 left the Murray as a
series of pools. The weir started to leak in 1992 and was rebuilt in 1996. For up-to-date info contact the local tourism centres: |
