Wilson’s Prom is arguably
Victoria’s most popular National Park
and the most southerly point of the Australian mainland. Part of the Wildlife
Coast Nature Trail, Wilson’s Promontory is also known affectionately as ‘The
Prom’. The promontory is the start of the
land bridge that existed some 6,000 years ago during the last ice age providing a
link to Tasmania allowing humans and animals to migrate across Bass Straight.
With about 130 km of
coastline, framed by granite headlands, mountains, forests and fern
gullies and a tidal river inside the park, there is little wonder at the
park's popularity.
