Christmas Island is a beautiful island with a predominant Asian and Oriental
culture, making up part of the Australian Indian Ocean Territories. Over half
of the island is covered by the National Park tropical forests, offering some
fantastic walking trails, as well as fishing, diving and surfing. The surf
season is between November to March, whilst the best time for snorkelling is
between April to October. There are beaches and rock pools to explore around the
island. Wildlife on the island including Boobies, Frigate Birds, Golden Bosun
Birds, Red Crabs, Robber Crabs and Whale Sharks. The Red Crabs begin their
breeding migration back to the sea during Christmas.
