Welcome to the ‘Mid West’ region located on the west coast of Western Australia. The City of Geraldton-Greenough is the commercial, administrative and service centre of the region. From here the region stretches under 200 km both north and south and some 750 km inland to Wiluna in the Gibson Desert.

The regions southern most coastal point is Green Head which is just 32 km north of the popular Jurien Bay. Kalbarri is the northern most coastal point in the Mid West. Another 374 km beyond Kalbarri are the popular destinations of Shark Bay, Denham, Monkey Mia and the Hamelin Pool.

The Mid West encompasses a diversity of geographic features. Whilst much of the region is flat, there are the flat topped Moresby Ranges, the Weld, Nicholas, Dividing, Montague and Robinson ranges, the river valleys formed by the Greenough, Chapman and Irwin rivers and the spectacular gorges carved out by the Murchison River. There are also numerous salt lakes.

Climatically, the coastal areas usually have a mild Mediterranean climate with hot/dry summers and cool/wet winters. The inland areas has an arid climate, much like central Australia, with very hot/dry summers and cold/dry winters.
