Mount Magnet is the crossroads to the Midwest and the hub of
the Murchison and the longest surviving gold mining settlement in Western
Australia. Today, Mount
Magnet is a service town for the mining and pastoral industries. Located on the Great Northern
Highway, Mount Magnet provides the perfect base for exploring the
Gascoyne-Murchison region, especially those interested in gold prospecting and
fossicking.
There is easy access to other nearby historic towns of Cue (80 km),
Meekatharra (195 km), Sandstone (158 km) and Yalgoo (124 km). Other points of
interest include Dalgaranga meteorite crater and Walga Rock. Between July and September, visitors are drawn to the area for the
magnificent wildflower season.
