Northam - Cities, Towns and Localities
Northam is located on the banks of the Avon River, and is the commercial hub of the surrounding rich agricultural area, servicing the Central Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

As the major town in the Avon Valley and only 96 km from WA’s capital city of Perth, it offers many amenities and activities for visitors and is a great place to base yourself from which to visit the surrounding region.

With the Avon River flowing through the town there are numerous spots along the river where you can relax and enjoy the sights. Spanning the river is the Northam’s Pedestrian Suspension Bridge, which is the longest of its kind in Australia. The river is home to an abundance of birdlife, including white swans.

In addition to our listed online travel guide information, contact the local tourism visitor centre for your destination for more attractions, tours, local maps and other information. The centre also has a cafe, a permanent exhibition and public amenities including showers and a parents room, all with access for the disabled.
