War Memorials — Australian Capital Territory, Australia

There are war memorials located throughout Australia. Some are grand large places, whilst others are small dedications, but all are monuments to our fallen heroes. Many travellers include a visit to these sites as part of their holiday, so where possible we have provided information and links to them.

• Conceived in 1925 and finally opened in 1941, is Australia's museum of war history, housing an amazing collection of pictures, dioramas, relics, exhibitions, and a collection of old aircrafts. The Hall of Memory is the focus of the memorial. Leading to the hall is the reflecting pool, surrounded by walls inscribed with the names of Australia's war dead. It also features superb stained-glass windows and a dome made of six million Italian mosaic pieces. The 'Unknown Australian Soldier' was brought here from a WWI battlefield in 1993. Boer War Memorial
• Centre Median, Lowe St
• Erected in 1903, it is one of the earliest Boer War Memorials in New South Wales.
